Many small businesses answer the same questions every week: What is included? How long does it take? What happens if something goes wrong? A clear FAQ page can save staff time and help customers make informed decisions. For a beginner offering content services, the sellable work is not pressing “generate.” It is collecting genuine questions, checking answers with the business, and publishing a page someone will maintain.
What to offer, and to whom
Offer a fixed-scope “customer FAQ page” to an independent repair shop, retailer or service provider with recurring enquiries. The deliverable might include 8–12 questions, concise approved answers, links to relevant policy and contact pages, and a review date. Do not claim the page will win a Google FAQ snippet: Google removed its FAQ rich-result documentation on June 15, 2026, after retiring that search feature. The customer-help value must stand on its own.
Consider a hypothetical appliance-repair shop: customers ask whether a visit includes diagnosis, whether parts are guaranteed and which areas are served. You would ask the owner for actual terms, then write clear answers. You must not invent a warranty, service area, turnaround time or customer testimonial.
Skills, tools and starting cost
You need basic interviewing, editing, source checking and WordPress skills. A shared document and ChatGPT’s Free option can be enough for an initial workflow; the software subscription cost can therefore be zero, subject to current usage limits. Your own time, internet access and any client-approved publishing tools still have costs. If you use a personal AI account, review its data controls and obtain permission before entering client material. Better still, use anonymised question themes rather than names, phone numbers or private correspondence.
A six-step starting plan
- Agree the scope. Choose one service or product category, a question count, one owner-approval round and a date for review. Clarify who may edit or publish the page.
- Collect real questions. Interview the owner and support staff. Review de-identified email themes or public enquiries only with permission. Group duplicates; keep a note of where each question came from.
- Build an answer sheet. For each answer, record the owner-approved source: a policy, service description or confirmed operating practice. Mark anything unknown “needs confirmation.”
- Use AI as an editor. Ask it to shorten and organise only the approved material. Tell it not to add facts. Compare the output line by line against the answer sheet; AI can sound confident while being wrong.
- Get sign-off and publish. Have the owner verify prices, eligibility, geography, warranties, safety language and contact routes. Test the page on a phone and link each answer to a fuller page when needed. Publish only with permission.
- Offer upkeep separately. Suggest a quarterly review and a named staff owner for policy changes. Retire answers that are no longer accurate.
Price the work honestly and set boundaries
Quote a fixed fee based on interview time, question count, fact-checking, revision rounds and WordPress formatting; quote ongoing updates separately. Avoid made-up income examples or guarantees. The number of clients and your earnings depend on your skill, demand and execution. A short sample made from fictional, clearly labelled questions can show your format without copying a competitor’s content or exposing a customer’s information.
Useful pages should serve people first. Google’s guidance emphasises original, reliable, people-first content rather than pages created primarily to manipulate search rankings. Do not promise rankings or use FAQs as keyword-stuffed filler. For medical, legal or financial questions, require qualified professional review or decline the assignment. Never fabricate policies, reviews or results.
If you later recommend an AI tool through an affiliate link, place a clear disclosure close to the recommendation. In India, ASCI’s influencer-advertising guidance calls for prominent disclosure of material connections. This service does not require an affiliate link, and a recommendation should be based on genuine suitability, not commission.
